Why?

He was coming off a 5 yr 26.5 mil contract and a 60 point season. They gave him a modest raise of 5 years 28 mil (300k per on the cap). He had a 54 point season last year and was the teams 2nd leading point getter. If he's not scoring, he's at least giving you sound defensive play and pk help. If Vanek isn't scoring, he's useless.

- dadeadhead

Agreed, I don't see how his contract is bad at all.

Ullmark came up big last night. Only been 3 games with him but he is settling in nicely. Hopefully he is in net when the Bolts travel to Buffalo and we get to see what he looks like vs one of the top offenses in the league.

Let's wait to see if opponents can solve him now that they have tape.

Tampa is 3-5-2 in their last ten and has more goals against then for this season. Not exactly one of the top offenses in the league thus far. With that said Ullmark looked good last night he may be the answer for you guys. Has good size and mobility.

Well, we knew Gionta wasn't gonna be the answer. Good that others are stepping up.

he's been playing big in net but you're right, good teams, especially a team with the overall skill of tampa, will be pouring over the tape on him

mcginn is a hard-worker, fast and smart, he also has five points (2+3) in 12 games...no reason why he shouldn't be in the top-nine mix

true, they have been a little sluggish offensively but they can still put up goals and with a team that has Stamkos, Palat, T. Johnson, Kucherov, Hedman, Killorn, Callahan, and Garrison they can snap out of a offensive funk in a hurry. They might have started to get out of that funk yesterday putting up 4 goals. I know it was against the Canes but when you have been struggling to put pucks in the back of the net, 4 on the road vs any team is a nice thing.

I mean, .930 isn't bad, especially for a rookie. We can make the sample size even smaller and in the last 2 games he has a .965. 3 games is nothing, but getting him NHL ice time is more important. He's looked okay and if he can improve his positioning, rebound control, and resetting after the first save he looks like he can be okay.

So does Reinhart, yet he was bumped to the 4th line last night. I know that at some point, someone has to play there, but to me, Foligno fits there better than Reinhart does.

totally agree there, but Bylsma seems to like movers and shakers in the top-six, ie: Foligno, deslauriers

He looks more comfortable in the nets than Johnson does.

Johnson fights the puck way to much for my liking.

I say ride the kid for now. He's giving the team the best chance to win. If he falls apart, decide what to do then. But for now, it should be Ullmark's net.
